Installing Shank Bolts (Pre 2019)

Installing Shank Bolts On Your Scooter (Pre 2019 Models)

Tools Required For This Repair

If you have one of our RGS-2 or RGS-3 scooters that was purchased before 2019 then this will have a slightly different shank bolt to our current scooters. Our newer designed shank bolt however will still fit on the previous models.
For this repair you will need a philip head screwdriver and the medium sized allen key provided in the box of your original order.

Step 1

Place your 3Style Scooter on a table or similar surface upside-down, this will allow you to have easy access to the bottom of the front of the scooter/steering column.

Step 2

Remove the two shank bolts located at the top going through the metal plate.

Step 3

Then remove the small screws which also go through the metal fender plate.

Step 4

Take off the metal fender plate.

Step 5

Remove the plastic guard.

Step 6

Pull the wheel shank axle off from the base and put these to one side.

Step 7

There are two small screws located on the base either side of the spring.

Step 8

Remove these two small screws.

Step 9

Next remove the two small screws located at the top of the base of the scooter, as shown in this picture. It’s not necessary to remove any more than the top two.

Step 10

Pull on the coloured plastic to separate this from the black base.

Step 11

The old shank bolt nuts are still located in the scooter. To remove these push them out using the old bolt.

Step 12

These will then pop out the other side.

Step 13

Once both shank bolt nuts have been removed discard the old shank bolts and nuts.

Step 14

The longer side of the new bolt goes through the top part, as seen in this picture.

Step 15

When this has been pushed through, pull this down into place.

Step 16

Once both of the new shank bolts have been put into place, push the coloured plastic back into position on the scooter.

Step 17

Screw the four small screws back into place. These are the two either side of the spring and also the top two on the base of the scooter.

Step 18

Put the wheel shank axle back onto the scooter. Position this first onto the shank bolts and then you can push the spring into the holder on the base of the scooter.

Step 19

Put back the plastic guard back into place.

Step 20

Put the metal fender plate back on the scooter and secure this into place with the two smaller ends of the new shank bolts and finally the two smaller screws.
