Cleaning Opening/Closing Mechanism
You will have originally been provided with an Allen Key / Screwdriver tool that will be needed for this repair.
Other Screwdrivers and Allen Keys of the correct size will also work. You will also need a cloth of some sort to clean this part.

Remove the bolt located on the base of the handlebars which connects the handles to the base of the scooter.

Remove the screw first and then put this to one side.

To remove the bolt from the scooter use the medium allen key that was provided in the box with your original order to push out the bolt.

If this is stiff to remove use the larger allen key provided with your original order to wiggle the bolt out, while applying pressure from the other side to push it out.

Once you have removed the bolt please leave this to one side.

You can lift the handlebars up out of position and fully detach them from the base of the scooter.

There are two small plastic washers either side of the hole for the bolt on the handlebars, either leave these in place or if they fall out please leave these to one side.

Clean the metal block located at the bottom of the handlebars.

Then clean out the sockets on the base of the scooter.

There are two sockets so make sure to clean both of them.

Once this has been cleaned you can put the handlebars back into place.

To align the holes for the bolt to go through the base of the scooter and the bottom of the handlebars you can use the larger allen key to help with this.

Once aligned put back in the bolt and screw back on the screw to the end of the bolt.
